Supervisory Relationships

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Recreation

Basic Function

The Prairie Lakes Building Supervisor, under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Recreation, is responsible for building supervision, security, and safety of Prairie Lakes Community Center during scheduled work hours. This role also includes greeting the public, answering questions, room set up and take down, gym attendance, room or event venue cleaning after activities and rentals as needed, and assisting other park district employees with any questions or situations that may arise.

Essential Duties
  • Supervise all facility staff.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons, including greeting with a smile and assisting the general public when they enter the building.
  • Uphold all building rules.
  • Sound understanding of building operational needs.
  • Complete daily/nightly checklists, to be turned into supervisor.
  • Check garbage in common areas, bathrooms, gym, fitness center, fitness studio, locker rooms, and outside the front of the building.
  • Ensure cash control policies and procedures are followed and assist with cash out procedures.
  • Assist Front Desk associates when busy or in the event of customer related issues.
  • Have a general understanding of RecTrac and POS to assist with issues at the front desk.
  • Understand all staff positions and be able to fill in as necessary.
  • Respond to emergencies and administer first aid or CPR when needed. Complete necessary reports. Direct patrons in the event of an emergency such as fire or severe weather.
  • Be aware of all activities scheduled in the building during shift and assist with room set up and breakdowns as necessary.
  • Regularly check all rooms and restrooms by walking around during the entire shift, except when needed at the front desk.
  • Clean up and empty trash, restock paper products, wipe down surfaces, and clean fitness equipment as needed.
  • Monitor bulletin boards, flyer frames and bins, and all other printed materials to ensure current information is posted and supplies are replenished.
  • Curtail any misuse of the facility or its equipment.
  • Secure building at the end of the night.
  • Report maintenance, disciplinary, complaints, suggestions, and special or unusual situations.
  • Give tours and be able to address inquiries concerning memberships, rentals, and other building functions.
Other Duties
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual and Crisis Manual.
  • Assist program instructors, facility users, other staff, and renters with any needs.
  • During winter months, clear snow from walkways and apply ice melt as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
  • Education: High School Education or equivalent (GED).
  • Experience: Must be 18 years or older.
  • Certifications: CPR and First Aid Certified within 3 months; classes available through Park District upon hire.
