Job summary

CHL Systems is seeking a Manager of Production to lead daily manufacturing operations across fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly. This hands-on leadership role drives safe, efficient production and on-time delivery of custom equipment.

The ideal candidate will supervise through supervisors, coordinate across departments, and develop a strong, accountable production team in a hands-on environment.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of progressive manufacturing experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience leading production operations in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience coordinating multiple production areas (fabrication, machining, welding, assembly).
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production flow, labor planning, and performance.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and production docs.
• Experience using production metrics to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and rework/scrap.
• Strong leadership to coach and develop supervisors and team members.

Responsibilities

CHL Systems is hiring a Manager of Production to lead daily manufacturing operations across fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly. This is a full-time, salaried/exempt leadership role for someone who can drive safe, efficient, high-quality production while supporting on-time delivery of custom equipment and components.

This role is best suited for a hands-on manufacturing leader with experience in custom manufacturing, engineered equipment, job-shop, or industrial production environments. The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading through supervisors, coordinating across departments, improving workflow, resolving production challenges, and developing a strong, accountable production team.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and manage daily manufacturing operations across fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly
• Ensure production schedules are executed safely, efficiently, and on time
• Coordinate closely with Production Planning to align capacity, labor, priorities, and production flow
• Partner with Engineering to resolve manufacturability, design, and technical production challenges
• Drive performance in safety, quality, delivery, productivity, labor utilization, and cost control
• Identify and remove bottlenecks, improve workflow, and optimize equipment, staffing, and scheduling
• Lead Lean, 5S, standard work, root cause, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Partner with Quality to address non-conformances, corrective actions, and customer expectations
• Lead, coach, develop, and evaluate production supervisors and team members
• Establish clear expectations, accountability standards, and consistent operating practices across departments
• Ensure accurate production, labor, and performance data within ERP/MRP systems
• Support budgeting, labor planning, cost control, and compliance with company policies and operational standards

What We’re Looking For

• 8-10+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, including leadership responsibility
• Experience leading production operations in a manufacturing environment
• Experience managing or coordinating multiple production areas such as fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, or similar departments
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production flow, labor planning, and operational performance
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and production documentation
• Experience using production metrics to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, efficiency, and rework/scrap performance
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and hold supervisors and team members accountable
• Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced custom manufacturing environment
• Working knowledge of industrial safety expectations, including PPE, machine safety, material handling, and Lockout/Tagout requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field
• Technical or trade background with relevant leadership experience
• Experience in custom manufacturing, engineered equipment, job-shop, or made-to-order production environments
• Experience coordinating closely with Engineering, Production Planning, Quality, and Supply Chain
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems for scheduling, labor tracking, and production performance
• Knowledge of ISO quality systems, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement practices
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement certification

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• This is an onsite role based in a manufacturing and engineered systems environment
• Work includes frequent presence on the manufacturing floor and regular movement throughout production areas
• Regular interaction with supervisors, engineers, planners, quality, supply chain, and operations leadership is required
• Exposure to industrial manufacturing areas, including noise, equipment, fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, and material handling, may occur
• Ability to walk, stand, and move throughout production areas for extended periods is required
• Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. with assistance as needed may be required
• PPE must be worn in designated areas, and all company safety procedures must be followed
• Occasional extended hours may be required to meet production schedules
