Description

The Manager of Permitting Services oversees the Permitting Department and works with the project team in processing permits for various projects.

Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree or a minimum of 10-12 years’ experience in a professional architectural/engineering firm, government affairs experience, strong leadership, analytical and negotiating skills. Requires an understanding of architecture/engineering and building construction, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to persuasively speak before large groups. Must develop and maintain collaborative working relationships internally and externally, be a self‑starter able to organize and implement several concurrent projects, exercise sound judgment in prioritizing, and hold a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities / Skills
  • Design, develop and implement a comprehensive government relations program that includes state and local government relations.
  • Monitors and provides advice on state legislation and regulation that could impact CP.
  • Work with senior management to increase CP’s visibility with elected officials, regulatory agencies, and their staff.
  • Participate and represent CP in various trade associations such as Build Point, ICSC and other related organizations (i.e., career fairs).
  • Oversee the processing of permits, projects, reports and correspondences with regulatory agencies and personnel at the local, state and federal level, assuring that all processes and procedures are documented and adhere to regulations.
  • May be responsible for creating and issuing reports necessary for permitting operations with the company.
  • Oversee processing of permits with the Federal, State, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Generate decisions on projects, regarding budgets and personnel.
  • Direct staff according to timeline and priority of projects.
  • Manage, train and lead Permitting team
  • Address all questions and correspondences dealing with specific permits and projects.
  • Meet with clients regarding all issues of the permit process.
  • Create reports needed to comply with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Collect and review all plans, permits, and reports before sending them to agencies.
  • Represent company in in-house and outside meetings with agencies, vendors, clients, and industry personnel.
  • Attend meetings with different agencies and personnel with the purpose of expediting permit process.
  • Manage the progress of securing permits for projects.
  • Prioritize projects in regard to timeline and budget.
Physical Demands

Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, handle stressful situations and multitask, work under time constraints, long hours may be required, and lift or carry up to forty pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Overtime (40+ hours) may be required as needed.

Work Environment

Must be able to handle stressful situations, multitask, and work within reasonable time constraints to meet production schedules and budgets. Will work in a normal office environment and may also be required to work outside of a normal office from time‑to‑time.
