Primarily concerned with obtaining accurate, complete, and consistent demographic, financial, and clinical data during all registration processes, following up on all scheduled visits. Managing the authorization and pre-certification process for inpatient and outpatient services.Major Job FunctionsThe following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Plans, educates, organizes, coordinates, and controls all registration activitiesMaintains all Patient Access policies and proceduresMaintains all job descriptions and standards for all registration personnelImplements and controls registration proceduresCoordinates and works closely with nursing and medical staffing to accommodate and keep them informed of all Patient Access requirements and needsCoordinates and works closely with the Directors of Medical Records and Patient Accounts to ensure that their needs are metEnsures accurate completion of medical and financial forms related to the preadmission, admitting, registration, financial counseling and scheduling processRecruits new personnel and evaluates all personnel in the departmentEnsures that the Director of Patient Financial Services is informed on the status of the admitting, financial counseling and scheduling operationsCross trains staff across departments to ensure most effective use of laborMonitors times and schedules of staff so that efficiency is optimizedOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training:Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field is required 8 years of relevant work experience requiredWork Experience:4 years Patient Access experience required2 years supervisory experience requiredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English languageAbility to plan, direct, and control Patient Access functionsGood command of medical terminologyProblem solving abilitiesPC experience, including Microsoft Office and WindowsPhysical Requirements:Ability to communicate orally and in writing effectively with patients, doctors, and other departments in the institutionRequired Licenses and CertificationsCape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
