Job summary

The Virginia State Corporation Commission seeks a Manager of Examinations to lead the Securities & Retail Franchising divisions’ Examination Section, overseeing four direct and three indirect reports in a hybrid work schedule.

You will review staff reports, assign workflow, prepare examination reports, design regulatory presentations, and evaluate statutes, rules, and forms while guiding compliance decisions and complex studies.

Responsibilities

• Manage, coach, develop, train, and evaluate staff in the Examination Section.
• Plan, organize, and manage the work of the Examination Section including reviewing staff reports and overseeing and assigning workflow for examiners.
• Plan, organize, and manage the preparation of examination reports.
• Compile and summarize results and prepare reports on findings.
• Design and facilitate presentations to industry and consumer groups on regulatory issues.
• Analyze the effectiveness of statutes, rules, and forms.
• Prepare and recommend statutory and rule amendments.
• Interpret and determine compliance and exemptions.
• Review and negotiate orders.
• Conduct highly complex special studies and projects.
• Draft rules, orders, and technical documents for the SCC.
• Prepare examination reports.
• Perform related work as requested.

Manager of Examinations Securities & Retail Franchising

Starting Salary Range: $101,504 - $115,000

The State Corporation Commission (SCC) is seeking a Manager of Examinations to lead the Securities and Retail Franchising (SRF) Divisions Examination Section which is responsible for the review and registration of securities and franchise applications. The Manager of Examinations will oversee 4 direct reports and 3 indirect reports in the section. This position offers a hybrid work schedule (some telework and some in-office days each week) as well as training and professional development opportunities.
