Job summary

Alabama A&M University is seeking an Advertising Brand Manager to oversee brand management across marketing, communications, and advancement. The role applies marketing theory, research, analysis, strategy, event coordination, leadership, and communication to drive brand awareness and engagement.

The manager will work with the AVP and marketing/PR teams to strategize advertising plans, administer licensing, and ensure consistent AAMU branding across platforms and campus events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or related field; Master’s degree in marketing/communications fields preferred.
  • At least two (2) years experience working in the field of brand management and/or advertising.
  • At least two (2) years working in professional environment as a leader in some aspects of advertising, marketing, or brand strategy

Responsibilities

  • Manages the University’s licensing portal and dashboard to track and approve all use of AAMU brand elements in apparel and merchandise.
  • Provides bi-monthly and monthly reporting on licensing activity, revenue, and new opportunities.
  • Maintains communication with official licensees, CLC partners, and vendors to ensure compliance and consistency of AAMU brand in the marketplace.
  • Works closely with the AVP to strategize and develop advertising plans across various platforms.
  • Coordinates on-campus / on-sight advertising production activities for institutional projects (i.e. video shoots, content days, etc.)
  • Works closely with external partners to maintain positive relationships and build AAMU brand network.
  • Provides team guidance in the execution of AAMU brand activations (i.e. Magic City Classic Fan Central, Homecoming brand activations, Parades, etc.)
  • Maintain awareness of current trends in advertising, brand management, and emerging brand expansion opportunities.
  • Works closely withinternal MCA teams to develop advertising assets for deployment across campaigns.
  • Proactively establishes contact with University colleges and departments to be an asset in the development of collateral and materials that may display or convey the AAMU brand in any way.
  • Responsible for delivery of ad assets to partners (digital, out-of-home, television, etc.)

Summary:

Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or related field, Master’s degree in marketing/communications fields preferred.
  • At least two (2) years experience working in the field of brand management and/or advertising
  • At least two (2) years working in professional environment as a leader in some aspects of advertising, marketing, or brand strategy
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to carry advertising campaign from conception to delivery
  • Ability to effectively communicate brand messages to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and execute marketing projects within budget and timeline constraints.
  • Ability to develop strategy that responds effectively to changing market conditions and consumer preferences.
  • Ability to identify target demographics, conduct market analysis, and develop strategy that positions the brand for success within the resources and budget available
  • Knowledge of utilizing consumer behavior, preferences, and trends to inform brand strategy
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for marketing and brand management
