Job summary

Callen-Lorde seeks a Manager of Nursing Competency & Education to lead enterprise-wide nursing education, onboarding, and competency validation across all sites. Reporting to the VP of Nursing, you will standardize practices, promote evidence-based care, and monitor workforce metrics to drive improvements in nursing excellence.

The role requires NY RN licensure, a BSN, and significant leadership in education; Master’s degree and bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Current New York State Registered Nurse license required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Nursing Education, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of leadership/management experience required.
  • Minimum five years of progressive nursing experience.
  • Minimum two years of leadership, education, or staff development experience.
  • Ambulatory care experience preferred.
  • Effective communication with patients, colleagues, and health professionals.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Bilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish/English) are beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise-wide nursing education, onboarding, and professional development programs.
  • Maintain clinical competency through site-based engagement, mentorship, and workflow observation.
  • Develop and manage annual competency programs, including tracking, validation, and remediation.
  • Partner with leadership to standardize nursing practices, policies, and clinical workflows.
  • Collaborate on quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and post-incident education.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements.
  • Support nursing leadership through coaching, onboarding, and team development.
  • Monitor and report education, competency, and workforce metrics to drive improvement.
