Job summary

Callen-Lorde seeks a Manager of Nursing Competency & Education to lead enterprise-wide nursing education, onboarding, and competency validation across all sites. Reporting to the VP of Nursing, you will standardize practices, promote evidence-based care, and monitor workforce metrics to drive improvements in nursing excellence.

The role requires NY RN licensure, a BSN, and significant leadership in education; Master’s degree and bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

Current New York State Registered Nurse license required.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
Master’s degree in Nursing, Nursing Education, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
3+ years of leadership/management experience required.
Minimum five years of progressive nursing experience.
Minimum two years of leadership, education, or staff development experience.
Ambulatory care experience preferred.
Effective communication with patients, colleagues, and health professionals.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
Bilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish/English) are beneficial.

Responsibilities

Lead enterprise-wide nursing education, onboarding, and professional development programs.
Maintain clinical competency through site-based engagement, mentorship, and workflow observation.
Develop and manage annual competency programs, including tracking, validation, and remediation.
Partner with leadership to standardize nursing practices, policies, and clinical workflows.
Collaborate on quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and post-incident education.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements.
Support nursing leadership through coaching, onboarding, and team development.
Monitor and report education, competency, and workforce metrics to drive improvement.
