Job summary

Methodist Dallas Medical Center is seeking a Microbiology Manager to lead the microbiology department and drive high performance in a regulated environment.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science, MT(ASCP)/CLS(ASCP) or MT(AMT) certification, and 5–10 years in microbiology with some management experience preferred. This is a full-time, on-site role with a 40-hour work week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related area of specialty.
• MT(ASCP), CLS(ASCP), or MT(AMT) certification required.
• 5+ years of laboratory experience; 2–5 years of management experience preferred; 5–10 years of microbiology experience preferred.

• Organize resources, direct personnel, and develop policies under the medical director.

Responsibilities

The manager of the microbiology department serves as a visible, engaged, and collaborative leader responsible for supporting a high-performing team. The manager helps to formulate plans, organizes resources, directs personnel and develops policies in the microbiology laboratory as directed by the medical director. The manager has twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week responsibility of the department and sections of the laboratory to ensure implementation of the medical/clinical programs. The manager needs to have the skills to communicate with transparency, professional and emotional intelligence while fostering a positive work environment and maintaining high performance and regulatory standards. This manager will be working with a highly engaged team that is process driven and patient care focused.

Job Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Clinical Laboratory Scientist or related area of specialty.
• Licenses and/or Certifications Required: MT(ASCP), CLS(ASCP), or MT(AMT).
• Related Work Experience: 5 years of Laboratory experience; 2-5 years of Management Experience Preferred; 5-10 years of microbiology experience preferred.
