Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Microbiology Lab Manager to lead a high-volume hospital laboratory team. The role requires a Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology or related field, national certification, and 3–5 years in a microbiology supervisory role.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of accreditation, billing guidelines, and regulatory requirements, with excellent communication and leadership skills to drive quality and efficiency in patient testing.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• National Certification as a Medical Technologist required.
• State licenses where required (CA, FL, LA, NV, NY, TN).
• 3-5 years of Microbiology Supervisory level experience required.
• Experience in a high-volume hospital or central laboratory setting preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of laboratory methods with independent judgement in microbiology and infectious disease.
• Thorough knowledge of laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Thorough knowledge of laboratory billing guidelines.
• Excellent communication skills and concise presentation abilities.
• Effective team building and organizational skills.
• Ability to supervise, teach, coach, and motivate staff.
• Effective problem solving and decision-making skills; escalate to leadership when needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor microbiology staff within a hospital laboratory setting.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and quality control across microbiology testing.
• Collaborate with leadership to optimize workflow in a high-volume lab.
• Communicate test results and performance feedback clearly to team and stakeholders.
• Support training and development of laboratory personnel.
