Responsibilities
- Develop and manage Metallurgy Characterization Programs and Special Projects.
- Lead characterization and reporting related to industry requirements including JENQC.
- Lead and support qualification of new processes and equipment.
- Establish goals and objectives in support of the SAO plan aimed at producing a reliable, cost-effective, consistent, quality product for customers.
- Participate with the manager in the development of short and long‑term plans for the assigned Technology group and ensure performance against those plans.
- Manage to ensure that expeditious metallurgical support is provided, when required, to Manufacturing, R&D, and other departments.
- Evaluate and execute, when appropriate, requests for experimental orders.
- Develop and maintain strong cooperative and productive working relationships with peers, subordinates, and superiors in all departments.
- Work with the Metallurgy Leadership Team to develop knowledge and skills in strategy/plan development and alignment, as well as leadership of broad quality improvement initiatives.
- Serve as an adviser and business partner for the Metallurgy Leadership Team.
- Develop solid relationships across the enterprise to enable smooth implementation of corporate initiatives and other critical business changes.
- Understand operational excellence and use those tools to drive process improvements.
- Mentor and participate in career development of junior metallurgists.
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials or Quality Science, or a related area.
- 10+ years of total work experience in a technical or metallurgy staff position.
- Experience managing a staff (preferred).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to compile, research, and analyze information.
- Ability to compose and present comprehensive reports.
- Business/Management Expertise: Applies broad business and management expertise to drive financial and operational performance across multiple departments and/or functions.
- Functional Expertise: Extensively knowledgeable within own function and generally knowledgeable about other disciplines within the organization.
- Strategic Planning: Develops area/departmental plans, including business, production and/or organizational priorities.
- Financial Management: Manages resources to ensure financial and operational objectives are met.
