Job Description

As a First Line Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will hold a dual role: managing a team of engineers and contributing directly to program work. Successful managers in this role are influencers, motivators, and leaders who foster team growth while advancing their own careers in engineering leadership.

Essential Functions:

1. Technical Leadership:
   • Apply domain expertise to programs, providing technical guidance and collaborating effectively.
   • Define and improve development processes and best practices.
   • Ensure quality and accuracy of proposal materials and estimates.
2. Resource Management:
   • Plan and allocate resources and labor effectively.
   • Support hiring and manage team morale to reduce attrition.
   • Identify and develop key talent for succession planning.
3. Employee Administration:
   • Manage performance, set goals, and provide feedback.
   • Lead performance improvement initiatives and recognize achievements.
   • Resolve conflicts and support team cohesion.
4. Career Development:
   • Mentor and support professional growth of team members.
   • Encourage continuous improvement and team development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with at least 9 years of combined experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 7 years, or 13 years of experience without a degree.
• Experience with CAD, mechanical design, and aerospace materials.
• Proven leadership and program management skills, including risk assessment and proposal development.
• Ability to obtain a US Security clearance.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in aerospace and defense sectors.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks, root cause analysis, and high-vacuum systems.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
