Job Description

The First Line Mechanical Engineering Manager plays a dual role, managing a team of engineers and actively contributing to projects. Successful managers are influential leaders who foster team growth while advancing their engineering expertise.

Essential Functions

1. Application of domain expertise: Provide technical guidance, collaborate, and execute tasks on programs. Maintain and improve development processes and ensure quality of proposals and estimates.
2. Resource management: Plan labor and resources, support hiring, and manage team morale and attrition. Support succession planning and talent development.
3. Employee administration: Conduct performance management, goal setting, and provide feedback. Lead performance improvement initiatives, support recognition activities, and resolve conflicts.
4. Career development: Support professional growth through training, mentoring, and project assignments. Promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related with 9+ years of experience, or Master’s with 7+ years, or 13+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with CAD, mechanical design, GD&T, manufacturing processes, and aerospace alloys.
• Experience in design review, estimating, planning, and lifecycle program management.
• Ability to obtain a US Security clearance.

Preferred Skills

• Engineering management, aerospace/defense experience, avionics packaging, Solidworks, root cause analysis, and strong communication skills.
