Job summary

Prime Data Centers seeks a Manager of Mechanical Engineering to lead mechanical design for tenant fit-outs in data halls, focusing on cooling distribution, containment, and airflow. The role ensures designs align with base-build capacity and customer thermal requirements.

You will mentor a team of designers, coordinate with multi-disciplinary groups, and drive compliant, constructible solutions while supporting commissioning and field issue resolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of mechanical design experience, ideally within data center or other mission-critical facility environments.
• Hands-on experience with data hall cooling systems: CRAH/CRAC units, in-row cooling, containment, and airflow management.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD/Revit or comparable mechanical design tools
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for tenant fit-out projects, including in-row/CRAH cooling distribution, containment systems, and airflow management within the data hall.
• Size and coordinate tenant cooling loads against available base-build mechanical capacity; interface with Base Build Mechanical Engineering on capacity allocation and tie-in points.
• Translate customer mechanical and redundancy requirements into constructible, code-compliant designs.
• Manage and mentor a team of mechanical designers/engineers; review drawings and calculations for quality and code compliance.
• Coordinate with Electrical, Structural, BIM, and Estimating to resolve interdisciplinary conflicts and deliver integrated designs.
• Support commissioning activities and resolve field mechanical issues arising during tenant build-outs.
• Maintain standard mechanical details, specifications, and design guidelines for TFO scopes.

About the role

The Manager, Mechanical Engineering leads mechanical design for customer deployments within Prime's data halls, including cooling distribution, containment, and airflow management within tenant white space.
