Job summary

The Opportunity

The People Department is seeking a Learning and Development Manager that is highly organized, a skilled communicator, and self-starter to implement a range of professional development initiatives. Reporting to the Director of People Experience and Development, the Learning and Development Manager designs and delivers programs (virtual and on-site) that support the Center for Justice Innovation (CJI) staff develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence to do their best work.

This role manages the Center's Learning and Development infrastructure end to end—from needs assessment to program design to platform administration—and partners closely with departments across the organization to address identified skill and learning gaps.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to
  • Define the strategic framework and direct the development of key learning solutions, including workshops, cohort-based programs, blended learning, and experiential development utilizing best practice approaches across all-staff, managers, senior leadership and role‑specific audiences, including interns;
  • Consult and collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy and clarity;
  • Manage compliance training for staff across the Center;
  • Create facilitator guides for learning programs;
  • Facilitate train‑the‑trainer (TTT) sessions to extend Learning and Development capacity across the organization;
  • Build and maintain manager capability curricula, including learning pathways for new and experienced managers;
  • Maintain CJI's Learning a dDevelopment calendar;
  • Manage external vendors, contracts, and content licensing;
  • Administer the learning management platform (LMS);
  • Conduct learning needs assessments and partnering closely with program departments to address skill gaps;
  • Track, manage data, and provide recommendations on utilization, learning outcomes and report on participation, completion, and impact;
  • Manage programming logistics, delivery, and communications. Including marketing and publication of training offerings; and
  • Other related tasks supporting Learning andDevelopment and the goals of the People Experience & Development team.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or other relevant graduate degree and five years of experience in learning anddevelopment, instructional design, or training, including direct facilitation experience required;
  • Demonstrated skill designing curricula for adult learners across formats (in-person, virtual, asynchronous);
  • Experience administering anlearning management platform(LMS);
  • Strong project management and organizational skills;
  • Certification or formal coursework in instructional design, adult learning, coaching, or facilitation; and
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in nonprofit, public-sector, or other mission-driven settings; and
  • Familiarity with manager development and capability frameworks.
Position Type

Full-time hybrid role with 2-3 days on site required per week.

Position Location

Midtown Manhattan, with regular travel to sites within the five boroughs and Newark, NJ.

Compensation

The compensation range for this position is $90,000 - $118,500 and is commensurate with experience.
