With a team of over 900 staff and an annual budget of $130 million, the Center carries out its mission through three core strategies: operating programs, conducting original research, and providing expert assistance and policy guidance.

Position Overview

The People Department is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Human Resources and in coordination with the Human Resources Generalist, the HR Coordinator provides administrative and project‑based support to the Human Resources team. The role assists with core HR processes including onboarding coordination, HRIS data entry, record maintenance, and system‑related projects. This temporary role supports ongoing HR initiatives and special projects while ensuring the integrity of employee data and HR systems.

Responsibilities
Recruitment and Onboarding Coordination
  • Support recruitment administration by assisting with applicant tracking system updates;
  • Coordinate onboarding logistics, including scheduling orientations and preparing onboarding materials;
  • Assist with preboarding tasks such as initiating background checks and collecting onboarding documentation;
  • Maintain recruitment and onboarding records in accordance with established procedures.
HRIS Data Management and System Cleanup
  • Enter and update employee information in the HRIS system including new hires, terminations, and job changes;
  • Support HRIS data cleanup initiatives to improve data accuracy and consistency;
  • Review employee records to identify missing or outdated information and assist in correcting discrepancies;
  • Assist with periodic HR data audits and reporting;
  • Support the HR team with system updates, documentation, and data organization.
HR Administrative Support
  • Maintain employee files and assist with digital record organization;
  • Support document collection and filing related to HR compliance and employee records;
  • Assist with tracking required HR documentation and follow‑ups;
  • Help coordinate HR communications and internal documentation updates.
Timekeeping and Payroll Support
  • Assist with reviewing timecard entries for completeness and accuracy;
  • Help respond to routine employee questions regarding timekeeping procedures;
  • Escalate timekeeping issues to the HR Generalist or Payroll team when needed.
Benefits and Program Support
  • Assist with benefits‑related administrative tasks including documentation and employee communications;
  • Support HR team members during open enrollment and wellness initiatives;
  • Help maintain benefits‑related records and vendor documentation.
HR Projects and Process Improvement
  • Provide support for HR projects related to system improvements, data organization, and operational efficiency;
  • Assist with documenting HR workflows and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
  • Participate in HR data cleanup initiatives and system optimization projects;
  • Support department initiatives and special projects assigned.
Internal HR Support
  • Provide administrative support to the HR team;
  • Respond to routine HR inquiries and direct employees to appropriate resources when needed;
  • Support cross‑team coordination on HR operational tasks.
Other Functions
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field with a minimum of 1–2 years of relevant experience, or an Associate’s degree with 3–4 years of relevant experience;
  • General knowledge of recruitment and all core functions of Human Resources;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Excellent time‑management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines;
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate;
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality;
  • Thorough knowledge of employment‑related laws and regulations;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software;
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.

Position Type

Full‑time temporary position for one year with a hybrid schedule (2–3 days on site).

Position Location

Midtown Manhattan, with occasional travel within New York City, to Newark, NJ, and to Upstate New York.

Compensation

The compensation range for this position is $65,000–$78,000, commensurate with experience.
