Job summary

The University of Michigan's College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) invites a data-driven Manager of Instructional Computing & Hardware Lifecycle to lead a team responsible for instructional spaces and thousands of devices across LSA.

You will govern desktop support operations, hardware lifecycle management, and project delivery while partnering with faculty and college leadership to advance academic technology initiatives in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field or combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in technical support, desktop support, or hardware lifecycle management.
• 3+ years of experience managing projects with stakeholder engagement and reporting.
• 3+ years of supervisory/management experience leading technical teams.
• Experience with hardware lifecycle processes, inventory tracking, and end-user ticketing tools (TeamDynamix, Google Sheets, Excel, Tableau/Power BI).
• Proven ability to drive process improvement, change management, and maintain knowledge documentation.
• Ability to create detailed visual reports communicating inventory and migrations status.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team responsible for instructional spaces, learning environments, and device lifecycle across the college.
• Partner with faculty and instructional designers to introduce new academic technologies.
• Ensure high availability and readiness of instructional technology tools and spaces.
• Oversee hardware lifecycle activities: inventory, procurement, deployments, OS upgrades, patching, retirement.
• Supervise desktop support staff, recruit and develop technical talent, and promote a positive work culture.
• Monitor SLAs, manage project portfolios, and report to stakeholders.
