TITLE: Manager Information Services

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Manager Information Services provides strategic and operational leadership for the implementation, optimization, and support of electronic health record (EHR) systems and other clinical applications. This role ensures clinical technology aligns with organizational goals, enhances patient care, and meets the evolving needs of physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals. The Manager leads a team of analysts and application specialists and serves as a liaison between IT, clinical departments, and vendors.

WORK HOURS: As required to fulfill responsibilities

REPORTS TO: Director of Epic Applications

Prerequisites:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Data Science, Health Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Minimum five years of progressive experience as a systems or technical analyst to include design, programming, and testing of application programs with a proven methodology, preferably related to clinical systems, required.

Minimum two years of progressive leadership experience overseeing cross-functional teams, managing staff development, driving strategic planning, and ensuring operational excellence in complex healthcare IT environments, required.

Current Epic Clinical Application certification is required.

  • Promote system integration, interoperability, and automation to enhance clinical efficiency and data integrity.
  • Review and ensure quality of system configurations, documentation, and workflow design before deployment.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and manage contracts associated with supported clinical applications, ensuring vendor performance, service level adherence, and renewal timelines are monitored and negotiated as needed.
  • Ensure all activities comply with organizational policies, HIPAA, Joint Commission standards, and information security protocols.
  • Uphold standards for secure access, storage, and distribution of clinical data and reports.
  • Participate in IT governance structures to prioritize enhancements and manage demand from clinical departments.
  • Provide regular updates to IT leadership (e.g., CIO) on project status, risks, resource needs, and emerging issues.
  • Escalate unresolved issues and timeline deviations promptly with recommended solutions.
  • Ensure transparency and proactive communication with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical systems, healthcare trends, and regulatory requirements through regular review of literature and participation in professional development opportunities.
  • Encourage innovation and continuous improvement in technology-enabled clinical operations.
