Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Senior Project Engineering Manager to lead a multi-disciplinary team overseeing project engineers and construction managers across regional sites. You will ensure processes from initiation to closeout, mentor engineers, manage staffing, and drive capital project execution while maintaining safety and compliance.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in manufacturing operations or capital projects, strong leadership skills, and hands-on experience with SAP and VNDLY.

Qualifications

• Ten years' manufacturing plant operations, maintenance, or capital projects experience.
• Proven project development, planning, estimating, forecasting, and execution expertise.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to learn, ethical standards, and ability to work varied schedules.
• Travel up to 20% across domestic sites.

Responsibilities

• Run all functions of a Project Engineering team, including day-to-day management of Project Engineers and Construction Managers
• Ensure all parts of the project process are followed from initiation through project closeout
• Serve as main point of contact between facilities, business area partners, maintenance, and the project engineering team
• Lead workload of up to 7 Project Engineers, including direct and contingent workers
• Supervise and forecast maintenance-led capital projects
• Manage regional staffing levels and engineering resources
• Participate in turnaround planning and staffing for capital projects
• Mentor Project Engineers
• Review funding requests and project estimates before approval
• Ensure operability and hazard reviews are completed and recommendations addressed
• Ensure process safety compliance on projects
• Coordinate regional contractor development with procurement
• Coordinate contingent worker strategy through VNDLY
• Evaluate bid tabs for major contracts before award
• Manage project safety and communication protocols
• Lead monthly regional safety meetings and apply incident findings
• Lead regional capital project forecasts and capital plan development and execution
• Ensure projects meet customer operability needs
• Develop basic understanding of operating plant environments, processes, and equipment
• Lead monthly project status and gatekeeping meetings

Requirements

• Manufacturing plant operations, maintenance, or capital projects experience (10 years minimum)
• Strong project management experience in project development and planning, estimating and forecasting, and execution and turnover
• Strong leadership abilities
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and planning skills
• Self-motivated and willingness to learn and improve
• High ethical standards
• Willing to work a wide variety of scheduled days and hours
• Plant outage experience
• Works authoritatively and collaboratively with employees, peers, management, support personnel, program participants and business area personnel

• Understands that project safety and execution shall follow APCI standards and policies
• Keep software tools and databases, used to own the project sub-region, current
• Has excellent SAP skills within the Project System roles
• BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering preferred
• Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
• Up to 20% domestic travel
• Ability to walk around a plant, supervise contractors, climb stairs and ladders
