Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a network architect to design and manage enterprise-wide data communication networks, including LANs, WANs, data centers, and cloud-integrated infrastructures.

The role focuses on planning routing architectures with BGP/OSPF, implementing robust security with firewalls and VPNs, and ensuring high availability with load balancing. Strong documentation and cross-team collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required plus 2 years IT experience, or 3 years post-secondary study plus 3 years IT experience.
• 2+ years designing and managing advanced network configurations and security protocols.
• Experience with Juniper SRX, Cisco Nexus, and FortiGate Firewalls is required.
• Some travel to various locations in the U.S. may be required based on business needs.
• Travel not to exceed 5% per year.

Job description

• Design, develop, and architect enterprise-wide data communication networks, including LANs, WANs, data centers, and cloud-integrated network infrastructures
• Plan and implement advanced routing and switching architectures using BGP and OSPF
• Design and administer network security architectures, including policy-based and route-based firewalls, IPsec VPN tunnels, and segmentation solutions across multi-vendor platforms
• Configure and manage network access control and authentication systems
• Deploy and maintain load balancing solutions for high availability, performance optimization, and application scalability
• Participate in data center migration projects, including transitioning on-premises infrastructure to cloud environments
• Analyze network performance, conduct capacity planning, and recommend architectural improvements
• Test, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network issues while ensuring compliance with organizational and industry standards
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and design specifications
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support enterprise infrastructure initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Business, Engineering (any), Information Technology, or related field, plus two (2) years of IT experience
• Alternatively, three (3) years of post-secondary study in any field plus three (3) years of IT experience
• One (1) year of IT work experience designing and managing advanced network configurations and security protocols using Juniper SRX, Cisco Nexus, and FortiGate Firewalls
• All experience may be acquired concurrently
• Travel and relocation to various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S. required based on business needs
• Travel not to exceed 5% per year
• International travel not required
