Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior network engineer in Chantilly, VA to design, implement, and optimize secure DoD networks in adherence to ICD 503. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams on capabilities, security, and performance.

The role requires active TS/SCI clearance with a current polygraph, and DoD 8140 IAT II certification. Hands-on work with Juniper and Cisco devices, firewalls, and RMF A&A activities is expected.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance w/current Polygraph required.
  • U.S. Citizenship required for the purposes of obtaining and maintaining a clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree and 9+ years of relevant networking experience.
  • DoD 8140 IAT II Level certification (e.g. Security+ CE, GSEC, CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, CND, SSCP).
  • At least 8 years working with Juniper and Cisco routers and switches, firewalls deployment, configuration, and migration.
  • Working knowledge of virtualization and cloud platforms, services, architectures/designs, and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with systems architects to design, implement, and optimize customer networks IAW ICD 503
  • Design and deploy functional LAN, WLAN, and WAN networks
  • Investigate and resolve operational problems
  • Work on teams responsible for engineering and packaging releases
  • Plan and lead network installation and upgrade projects
  • Manage Layer 3 and below network data transport and overall network traffic routing
  • Manage IP address space allocation and track permanent IP address assignments
  • Create and implement network security measures, including access authentication and STIG implementation
  • Design, configure, deploy, and maintain firewalls
  • Monitor syslog events and implement changes to improve security posture
  • Work with systems administrators, cyber security officers, and CNDSP
  • Assist cyber security officers with collecting and reporting information required during RMF A&A activities
  • Conduct regular network performance tests
  • Resolve escalated network support issues and document resolutions
  • Research and analyze new network technologies and present upgrade suggestions
