Elevance Health is seeking a Manager I for the Government Business Division's Special Programs in Care Management. This field-based role will oversee clinical supervision of CFSP Care Managers serving children and youth with complex medical, behavioral health, and social needs across North Carolina.

The position requires a BA/BS and at least 5 years in related fields with 1 year of leadership experience. Travel within NC is anticipated, with a hybrid/field work arrangement and a strong emphasis

Qualifications

• Requires BA/BS and 5+ years in a related field, with at least 1 year in leadership/management.
• Strong knowledge of care management practices, including discharge planning and service coordination.
• Behavioral health experience is strongly preferred and beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Oversee risk-managed Care Manager caseloads and distribute workloads.
• Monitor completion of required face-to-face visits based on member risk level.
• Ensure timely assessments and care plans, and active member engagement.
• Provide clinical consultation and manage escalations for high-risk members.
• Maintain documentation quality, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
• Coach and manage performance of frontline Care Managers.
• Hire, train, and evaluate performance of direct reports.

Location

North Carolina This field-based role enables associates to primarily operate in the field, traveling to client sites or designated locations as their role requires, with occasional office attendance for meetings or training. This approach ensures flexibility, responsiveness to client needs, and direct, hands‑on engagement.

The Manager I Government Business Division (GBD) Special Programs Manager, Care Manager will be responsible for providing direct operational and clinical supervision of Children and Family Specialty Plan ( CFSP). Care Managers responsible for children and youth with significant medical, behavioral health, placement, and social complexity.

How will you make an impact

• Oversee risk-managed Care Manager caseloads and distribute workloads appropriately.
• Monitor completion of contractually required face-to-face visits based on member risk level.
• Ensure timely completion of assessments and care plans, effective member engagement and participation in Child and Family Team meetings.
• Provide clinical consultation and manage escalations for high-risk and complex members.
• Maintain standards for documentation quality, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
• Coach, support, and manage the performance of frontline Care Managers.
• Identify and address performance gaps early to prevent systemic contractual deficiencies.
• Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.

Minimum Requirements

Requires a BA/BS and minimum of 5 years' experience in a related field, including minimum of 1 year leadership/management experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences

• Strong knowledge of service delivery coordination, discharge planning, or behavioral health experience strongly preferred.
• LCSW, LCMHC, and LMFT strongly preferred.
• Experience coordinating with Medicaid and North Carolina Foster Care system
• Must be comfortable effectively communicating programs, services, and value to eligible individuals and members strongly preferred.
• Must be willing to travel periodiclly throughout the state of North Carolina.
