Elevance Health is seeking a Manager I for the Government Business Division in North Carolina to lead field-based care management teams and drive quality and compliance in member care. The role requires travel to client sites and periodic office attendance as needed.

The ideal candidate holds a BA/BS with 5+ years in a related field, including 1+ year of leadership experience, and has strong knowledge of care coordination and behavioral health services within NC Medicaid contexts.

Manager I Government Business Division (GBD) Special Programs Manager, Care Manager

Location: North Carolina

This field-based role enables associates to primarily operate in the field, traveling to client sites or designated locations as their role requires, with occasional office attendance for meetings or training. This approach ensures flexibility, responsiveness to client needs, and direct, hands-on engagement.

How will you make an impact:

• Oversee risk-managed Care Manager caseloads and distribute workloads appropriately.
• Monitor completion of contractually required face-to-face visits based on member risk level.
• Ensure timely completion of assessments and care plans, effective member engagement, and participation in Child and Family Team meetings.
• Provide clinical consultation and manage escalations for high-risk and complex members.
• Maintain standards for documentation quality, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
• Coach, support, and manage the performance of frontline Care Managers.
• Identify and address performance gaps early to prevent systemic contractual deficiencies.
• Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.

Minimum Requirements:

• Requires a BA/BS and minimum of 5 years' experience in a related field, including minimum of 1 year leadership/management experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

• Strong knowledge of service delivery coordination, discharge planning, or behavioral health experience strongly preferred.
• LCSW, LCMHC, and LMFT strongly preferred.
• Experience coordinating with Medicaid and North Carolina Foster Care system.
• Must be comfortable effectively communicating programs, services, and value to eligible individuals and members strongly preferred.

Travel:

• Must be willing to travel periodically throughout following counties within North Carolina: Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Greene, Halifax, Johnson, Nash, Northampton, Pitt, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne, and Wilson.
