The Michaels Companies, Inc. in Irving, Texas is seeking an HR Manager to cultivate partnerships across the corporate office and to drive business results through people.

This role focuses on HR business partnering, succession planning, organizational development, and performance management to advance our people strategy and ensure regulatory compliance. You will lead engagement initiatives, coaching leaders, and guiding talent development in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field required.
  • 5+ years experience in HR Generalist or HR Leadership role.
  • PHR or SPHR certification a plus.
  • Must be people oriented and results driven.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Build consultative relationships with business leaders and provide guidance on performance and engagement.
  • Lead succession planning programs including talent reviews and bench planning.
  • Support organizational development and job design initiatives.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations issues and investigations.
  • Support performance management processes and merit calibration.

Support Center - IrvingThe Human Resources (HR) Manager is responsible for cultivating partnerships at Michaels corporate office that help our company continually enhance our ability to achieve business results through people. The HR Manager also promotes corporate values in designated business units through human resources management - including performance management, organizational design, training & development, succession planning, team member engagement and talent management. The HR Manager will assess and anticipate human resources related needs of the business as well as act as a team member champion and change agent.**Major Activities**As an HR Manager you will focus on these key areas and functions: HR Business Partner, Succession Planning, Organizational Development, Team Member Relations, and Performance Management.**HR Business Partner:*** Build and cultivate consultative relationships with respective business leaders by meeting regularly and providing insight and guidance on maximizing team performance.* Assess team member metrics on turnover, engagement, promotions etc. to develop effective strategies and plans to attract and retain team members.* Lead department leadership through engagement program throughout the year including Associate Engagement Survey, action plans and pulse surveys.**Succession Planning:*** Partner with department leadership to drive succession planning programs throughout the year – including talent reviews, bench planning, high potential development, and talent calibration.* Ensure effective succession plans are implemented and executed.* Partner with leadership to assess team member development needs and educate leaders on best options to improve performance and potential.* Partner with talent development team to identify opportunities and deliver training in support of strategic goals and team member development.**Organizational Development:*** Partner with leaders on organization design and team planning strategies; make recommendations and implement change as business needs evolve.* Maintain knowledge of competitor structures and Org Development trends.* Partner with leadership and business units to develop and maintain job descriptions.**Team Member Relations:*** Provide guidance to and resolve team member relations issues in a fairly.* Independently managing and resolving complex team member relations issues; conduct thorough and objective investigations.* Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with the legal department as needed/required.**Performance Management:*** Lead department leadership through performance management program throughout the year including appraisals, performance calibration, merit increases and objective setting.* Provide day-to-day performance management guidance and coaching to leadership.* Provide insights to recruiting team on position requirements.:**Minimum Education*** Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field required**Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills*** Microsoft Office Suite* Minimum Type of Experience the Job Requires* 5+ years experience in HR Generalist or HR Leadership role**Other*** Must be people oriented and results driven* Ability to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the organization, including Executive and C-Suite* Ability to analyze data, make recommendations and create/help execute plans in support of organizational goals* Must possess a very high degree of discretion and confidentiality* Strong written and verbal communication skills* Ability to multitask**Preferred Special Certifications or Technical Skills*** PHR or SPHR certification a plus**Applicants in the U.S. must satisfy federal, state, and local legal requirements of the job.**At The Michaels Companies Inc., our purpose is to fuel the joy of creativity and celebration.
