Description:

The Manager, Health Services oversees the daily operations of the campus health services clinic and provides supervision and support to departmental staff. Ensures efficient administrative processes, including scheduling, front-office coordination, workflow management, and compliance with campus policies. Serves as the primary point of contact for departmental inquiries and operational needs, allowing medical staff to focus on delivering high-quality patient care. This role plays a key part in creating a well-organized, student-centered, and responsive clinic environment.

Duties:
  • Provides administrative leadership for unit strategic planning, budget management, and coordination of agreements with external vendors or service providers. Conducts assessments to ensure clinic operations align with divisional and institutional goals and objectives.
  • Promotes and integrate student health and wellness initiatives across campus, supporting university recruitment, retention, and overall wellbeing efforts. Oversees clinic operations to ensure efficiency, compliance with federal and state regulations, and alignment with institutional policies.
  • Oversees the management, facility and equipment maintenance, operation, and staffing schedules of the clinic. Stays informed about and ensure compliance with UHCL policies, regulations, and best practices in college health and student affairs. Ensures adherence to local health regulations, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  • Reviews and audits records of clinic operations and medical providers for quality assurance. Manages the creation and updates of all policies, procedures, medical protocols, and forms.
  • Provides direction in the hiring, training, development, supervision, and evaluation of professional and support staff for the department.
  • Manages and oversees the development and execution of the department's graphics, promotional materials, and outreach initiatives. This includes print and digital media, website content, online resources, and other marketing efforts to effectively communicate the department's services and offerings. Collaborates with other campus offices to support and coordinate institutional initiatives.
  • Remains current with trends and innovations in college health and clinic operations. Plans for potential crises and ensures business continuity in the event of building or system disruptions.
  • Serves on university, divisional, and system-level committees that support the efforts of health services for UHCL students and performs related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, or a related field
  2. Minimum three years of experience supervising full-time employees.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Master's degree in business, healthcare, or a related field.
  2. Five years of experience working in a health-related environment such as a clinic or hospital.
Knowledge, Skills and abilities:
  • Knowledge of administrative and operational management principles, including workflow coordination, staffing practices, and process optimization to ensure efficient clinic functioning.
  • Knowledge of customer service concepts, privacy standards, and front-office procedures necessary to support a student-centered health services environment and maintain compliance with institutional policies.
  • Ability to direct collection, analysis, and interpretation of statistics relevant to program planning.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical documentation platforms to support accurate recordkeeping, appointment management, and clinic operations.
  • Strong ability to utilize administrative software and data management tools, including scheduling systems, reporting platforms, and workflow applications, to ensure clinic processes and staff coordination are efficient.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing, to effectively support staff, students, and campus partners.
  • Ability to assess situations, identify solutions, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced clinic environment, demonstrating strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
