Job description

Job Title: Manager Government Affairs

The Manager of Government Affairs manages the organization’s government relations and legislative activities at the local, state, and federal levels. The role involves developing proactive communications, building grassroots advocacy, and strengthening relationships between government officials and Cone Health leaders. This position supports the director by monitoring policy developments, supporting direct advocacy efforts, and managing personal and constituent issues from government officials.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Communications Management: Manages the organization's communications program to inform government officials and Cone Health staff about critical issues. Drafts messaging and materials to ensure accurate and consistent communication, maintaining positive relationships.
  2. Grassroots Advocacy: Implements and expands a grassroots advocacy network involving leadership and staff. Fosters personal relationships with elected officials and facilitates grasstops advocacy efforts to influence policy decisions.
  3. Engagement and Relationship Building: Organizes meetings and tours between organization representatives and government officials, thought leaders, and policy stakeholders. Manages logistics and communications for successful engagement.
  4. Policy Monitoring and Analysis: Oversees policy and regulatory developments at local, state, and federal levels. Provides analyses to support strategic decision-making and advocacy efforts.
  5. Collaboration: Works with internal teams on advocacy activities, establishing credible relationships with relevant individuals and organizations, including industry associations.
  6. Constituent Services: Researches and seeks to resolve personal and constituent issues for elected officials.
  7. Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a related role
  • Licensure/Certification: Must be eligible to register as a lobbyist
