GlobalSource IT, Inc. is seeking a Manager, Front-End Development to lead a Greenville-based team responsible for modern, intuitive UIs across customer-facing and internal platforms.

The role combines people leadership with strong technical expertise in React-based development, frontend architecture, accessibility, testing, and standards. You will mentor engineers, raise the technical bar, and partner with Product, Design, PM, and Engineering leadership.

Job Summary

The Manager, Front-End Development will lead the people, technical direction, and delivery of the front-end development function, building a high-performing team responsible for modern, intuitive, and scalable user experiences across customer-facing and internal platforms.

This role combines people leadership with strong technical expertise across React-based development, frontend architecture, modernization, reusable components, accessibility, testing, and engineering standards. The Manager will develop and mentor frontend engineers, raise the technical bar, and partner closely with Product, Design, Project Management, and Engineering leadership to deliver high-quality user experiences while building consistent, maintainable frontend practices across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of frontend developers responsible for customer-facing and internal applications.
• Own frontend delivery, prioritization, execution, and quality in partnership with Product, Design, Project Management, and Engineering leadership.
• Provide technical leadership across React development, frontend architecture, system design, performance, scalability, accessibility, and maintainability.
• Guide the modernization of existing interfaces and legacy frontend applications while balancing delivery priorities with long-term technical improvements.
• Establish and continuously improve frontend engineering standards, including reusable components, design patterns, style guides, coding standards, testing practices, and accessibility guidelines.
• Drive consistency across applications through shared UI patterns, modular architecture, component libraries, and modern development practices.
• Partner with UX and Design teams to translate concepts and requirements into polished, intuitive, and technically sound user experiences.
• Lead technical discussions around complex interface challenges, prototypes, solution options, feasibility, dependencies, and architectural trade-offs.
• Strengthen development workflows, including code reviews, testing coverage, source control practices, quality assurance, and release readiness.
• Mentor developers through regular feedback, code reviews, technical guidance, growth planning, and career development.
• Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, performance management, and development of frontend team members.
• Identify and remove technical and organizational roadblocks while creating clear expectations and accountability across the team.
• Communicate technical decisions, risks, dependencies, trade-offs, and delivery progress effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Partner with other development managers and technical leaders to align frontend practices with broader engineering standards and platform strategy.
• Promote responsible use of AI-powered development tools to improve productivity, problem-solving, and learning while maintaining accountability for security, code quality, and technical understanding.
• Foster a collaborative engineering culture focused on ownership, strong execution, continuous improvement, and building solutions that are both effective today and maintainable long term.

Skills and Qualifications

Required

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, including significant experience building and delivering production-ready modern user interfaces.
• 3+ years of experience managing software developers or providing formal technical leadership to development teams.
• Strong experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue, with React preferred.
• Strong technical foundation with the ability to guide architecture, evaluate technical approaches, participate meaningfully in code and design discussions, and make sound engineering decisions.
• Demonstrated experience leading teams that deliver polished, intuitive, accessible, performant, and maintainable user interfaces.
• Experience establishing or improving frontend standards, reusable components, design patterns, component libraries, testing practices, or shared development workflows.
• Strong understanding of frontend architecture, application performance, scalability, usability, accessibility.
• Ability to balance delivery requirements with technical debt, code quality, user experience, and long-term platform direction.
• Proven ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineers through feedback, code reviews, technical guidance, and career development.
• Strong experience with Git and collaborative version control and code review workflows.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, establish clear expectations, remove roadblocks, and maintain high standards for delivery and quality.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Product, UX/Design, Project Management, senior leadership, and other business functions.

Preferred

• Experience directly managing frontend engineers within a product, platform, SaaS, or enterprise software environment.
• Deep experience with React and modern React development patterns.
• Experience developing or governing design systems, reusable component libraries, or shared UI standards across multiple applications or teams.
• Knowledge of web accessibility best practices and experience incorporating accessibility into design, development, testing, and review processes.
• Experience modernizing legacy frontend applications or migrating older interfaces to modern frameworks.
• Experience with GitHub and modern CI/CD development workflows.
• Experience with server-side rendering and modern frontend application architectures.
• Familiarity with Node.js and server-side technologies such as C#, PHP, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with SQL, MySQL, or related database technologies.
