The Position

The DC Recruitment and Engagement Manager is a full-time exempt position on Rocketship DC’s Regional Team. This role is responsible for leading and supporting the school’s team with new family recruitment efforts and creating a welcoming and seamless transition for families to our schools. This position will develop and execute the vision for the new family experience in our DC Region.

This role supports recruitment strategies including canvassing, community organizing, and direct family engagement. Flexibility for occasional weekend and evening work is required. The position reports to the Director of Enrollment and Partnerships.

Essential Functions
Family Recruitment (60%)
  • Support hiring and training of Family Recruiters, emphasizing professionalism, respect, and educational excellence.
  • Build relationships with youth-serving community organizations, faith leaders, elected officials, and community leaders to foster partnerships that enhance recruitment and community engagement.
  • Research and register for local community events.
  • Manage communication with interested families via email, voicemail, website, and social media.
  • Coordinate student application data entry and support lottery data integrity.
School Engagement (30%)
  • Support professional development for campus Office Managers and Registrars.
  • Assist school leadership in planning ongoing family engagement activities and events.
  • Coordinate tours, information sessions, and home visits to engage families.
  • Track and analyze enrollment process completion.
Regional/Network Team Engagement (10%)
  • Collaborate with Marketing to ensure timely creation of materials.
  • Provide input on enrollment modeling decisions.
  • Foster community among faculty and staff across the region.
  • Share best practices with regional Family Recruitment managers to further Rocketship’s mission.
Qualifications
  • Passion for eliminating the achievement gap and belief in high-quality education for all families.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • B.A. or B.S. required; Master’s preferred.
  • Enjoyment of hands-on work, managing people and projects, and executing detailed processes.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across roles.
  • Experience influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and resourceful.

Salary: $80,000 - $93,000 annually
