Job summary

Penn State Health Hampden Medical Center in Enola, PA, seeks a Facilities Manager - Maintenance to oversee day-to-day operations of the hospital facilities department, including trades such as plant engineering, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry.

You will develop monthly staffing schedules, approve staff time-off, and manage budget while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. The role involves coordinating campus construction and providing 24/7 on-call coverage when required.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Five (5) years of related facilities maintenance experience with two (2) years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience overseeing multiple trades in a hospital setting is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the hospital facility department, ensuring timely completion of work orders and preventative maintenance.
  • Coordinate campus construction activities and utility shutdowns with departments and contractors.
  • Develop staffing schedules, approve time-off, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call coverage as needed and respond to emergencies outside normal hours.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Responsible to oversee and supervise day-to-day operations of the hospital facility department including assigning and ensuring timely and proper completion of work orders and preventative maintenance activities while maintaining safety. This position oversees the following trades and operations: plant engineering, electrical, electromechanical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, general carpentry, and grounds. Reviews all purchase requests in advance to ensure proper inventory of supplies while maintaining budget. Prepares and distributes monthly staffing schedules and approves all staff time-off requests and completes regular performance evaluations for employees. Coordinates campus construction activities including all utility shutdown requests with departments and construction personnel to minimize impact to patient care areas and hospital operations. Develops a team oriented and innovative work atmosphere to support the organizational missions, goals and initiatives while improving efficiencies, reducing costs, meeting regulatory requirements and delivering high quality facilities services with best practice and sustainability considerations. This position will also provide 24/7 on-call coverage when required with occasional emergency response required during unscheduled times

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S)
  • Associates degree, or equivalent experience, plus five (5) years of related experience including two (2) years supervisory experience or six (6) years of related facilities maintenance experience including two (2) years supervisory experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S)
  • License or certification in one applicable trade preferred.
  • Experience working in healthcare preferred.
  • Health care building experience and successful interaction with other health care professionals in a professional environment preferred.
