Territory: Mid-Atlantic Region (Field-Based with Regular Travel)
A well-established building products manufacturer is seeking a Distributor Sales Manager to drive sales growth and promotional efforts throughout an assigned territory. This highly visible, field-based role will work closely with distributors, architects, builders, developers, general contractors, and other industry professionals to expand market presence and generate demand for a broad portfolio of building products.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced sales professional who understands the building products industry and enjoys developing new business, managing distributor relationships, influencing product specifications, and owning the sales process from initial opportunity through project close.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute territory sales strategies focused on increasing revenue, market penetration, and product demand
- Manage and grow relationships with existing distributors, dealers, builders, architects, developers, contractors, and other key customers
- Identify and develop new accounts through market research, referrals, networking, and lead-generation resources
- Drive product specifications with architects, builders, and contractors and manage opportunities from specification through project close
- Present new products, applications, and design solutions to customers and industry professionals
- Partner with regional and executive sales leadership on strategic customer meetings and sales initiatives
- Maintain a robust project pipeline using job-tracking, CRM, and industry lead-generation systems
- Monitor construction activity and market intelligence to identify upcoming projects and new sales opportunities
- Develop targeted sales and marketing strategies for key customers, projects, and market segments
- Coordinate educational presentations and product demonstrations for architectural, design, and construction firms
- Provide ongoing account support, including order assistance, technical requests, promotional activities, and issue resolution
- Partner with internal business development, marketing, and sales teams to promote complementary products and comprehensive customer solutions
- Support distributors and dealers with local promotional and business development initiatives
- Build relationships with local, regional, and national builders to generate demand and increase product adoption
- Represent the organization at industry associations, trade shows, seminars, networking events, and other market-facing activities
- Monitor competitive activity and market trends and communicate opportunities, challenges, and customer feedback to leadership
- Prepare timely sales reports, pipeline updates, territory reviews, and other performance reporting
Requirements:
- 5–7+ years of progressive sales experience, preferably within building products, construction materials, or a related industry
- Demonstrated experience selling to builders, commercial developers, distributors, contractors, and other construction-industry customers
- Strong business development, account management, and negotiation skills
- Ability to develop new business while effectively managing and expanding existing customer relationships
- Experience influencing product specifications and managing longer-cycle project sales preferred
- Knowledge of building materials, construction products, or related applications strongly preferred
- Strong presentation skills with the confidence to present to senior executives, customers, and industry groups
- Experience with construction lead-generation and project-tracking platforms is a plus
- Established product portfolio and customer base
