Job Summary

Plans, develops, implements and oversees programs and services in the assigned University Dining's retail and/or residential dining operations on a specific campus and/or location, which may include oversight of both front and back of the house operations. Responsible the management of assigned staff.

Responsibilities
  • Provides a superior dining hall experience that meets the lifestyle needs of students
  • Ensures that KSU's self-operated dining program provides exceptional food variety, quality, cleanliness, and freshness
  • Assists and coordinates with maintenance staff and KSU Facilities to ensure the dining program has equipment that is well-maintained and functional at all times
  • Responsible for labor management of assigned employees including but limited to, hiring, employee relations, performance management, and scheduling
  • Responsible for assisting department leaders in managing expenses, generating revenues, and the overall financial success of the dining program
  • Assists leaders in implementing new culinary programs and promotions in conjunction with the marketing and culinary team
  • Manages, trains, and develops staff to include direct reports
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Manager ServSafe certified or obtains certification within twelve (12) months of hire
  • Two (2) years of relevant work experience at a food service establishment as a supervisor or assistant manager
Preferred Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in a related field
  • Previous experience in a higher education food service setting in a supervisor or Assistant manager role
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
  • Able to communicate with a variety of internal and external customers
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in HAACP Standards
  • Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
  • Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Skilled in critical thinking, relationship building and customer service
  • Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
  • Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette

This is a supervisory position. This position does not have any financial responsibilities. This position will not be required to drive. This role is not considered a position of trust. This position does not require a purchasing card (P-Card). This position may travel 1% - 24% of the time.
