Job summary

Kennesaw State University is seeking a hands-on food service assistant to support catering functions across both campuses. You will perform setup, service, breakdown, and cleanup, including food prep, delivery, cashiering, stocking, and related duties, while maintaining cleanliness and safety.

You will monitor buffet lines, ensure product levels, proper sanitation, HACCP adherence, and maintain professional appearance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • On-the-job training provided.
  • Current, valid, and unrestricted Georgia driver's license.
  • An undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution in a related field (preferred).
  • Previous customer service experience in retail, food service or restaurant location (preferred).
  • Banquet service or external catering experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Execute the full setup, service, breakdown, and cleanup of catering functions across both campuses, performing a range of service tasks including food preparation, delivery, cashiering, stocking, receiving, dishwashing, and other assigned duties.
  • Monitors buffet lines and service stations to ensure proper product levels, visual presentation, cleanliness, and sanitation.
  • Maintains strict compliance with safe food handling practices, temperature control requirements, and HACCP guidelines.
  • Upholds uniform, grooming, and professional conduct standards while on duty.
  • Safely operates campus vehicles and golf carts per policies.
  • Greet customers and assist guests with entry or needs.
  • Restock supplies and communicate customer requests to management.
  • Maintain awareness of daily menu items and meal plans.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary and organized work environment.
  • Assist with setup, breakdown, and cleaning of beverage equipment.

Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.


Secondary Location

Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.



Department Information

Department-specific Tasks And Responsibilities


  • Execute the full set-up, service, breakdown, and cleanup of catering functions across both campuses, performing a range of service tasks including food preparation, delivery, cashiering, stocking, receiving, dishwashing, and other assigned duties.

  • Monitors buffet lines and service stations throughout events to ensure proper product levels, visual presentation, cleanliness, and adherence to sanitation standards.

  • Maintains strict compliance with safe food¿handling practices, temperature control requirements, and HACCP guidelines during all phases of service.

  • Upholds all uniform, grooming, and professional conduct standards consistently while on duty.

  • Safely operates campus vehicles and golf carts, ensuring proper usage, care, and adherence to transportation policies.

Provides general food service-related duties. Ensures a positive guest experience by providing excellent customer service.



Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Serves as first point of contact, greets customers and assists guests with entry or any other needs

  • Utilizes assigned systems and restocks supplies

  • Communicates customer requests or concerns to management

  • Maintains awareness of daily menu items and meal plans

  • Maintains a clean, sanitary and organized work environment at all times

  • Ensures food quality, including tasting food for quality control

  • Responsible for any of the below job duties as assigned, scheduled and/or based on the needs of the business, including but not limited to:

  • Set up, break down, and cleaning of beverage equipment

  • Cleans and sanitizes tables, chairs and service stations

  • Fulfillment and distribution of mobile orders in a timely manner

  • Supports location leadership with tasks as needed

  • Maintains an enthusiastic and positive attitude with guests, leadership and staff at all times

  • May serve food from assigned station, location, and/or as assigned



Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent


Required Experience

Minimum Licensure Required

Current, valid, and unrestricted Georgia driver's license

Proposed Salary
