How you will make an impact:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated manager for our growing Data Science Team. We have a unique and rich healthcare dataset and ambitious plans to leverage it for patient benefit. This is a greenfield opportunity to build, mold, and grow your ideal team, leading the development of innovative solutions with a significant impact on patients’ lives.

This role involves managing the Data Science team, overseeing algorithm and model development for internal use or product features, and guiding hypothesis testing and experimentation. You will be empowered to deliver impactful features and projects.

Additional Roles/Responsibilities:
  • Hire, build, and grow the data science team (multiple expansion requisitions approved for FY’25)
  • Manage, mentor, and guide team members; contribute your technical expertise; review proposals and requests
  • Handle team career development and conduct annual reviews
  • Own the Data Science roadmap and project backlog; prioritize workload and projects
  • Translate complex technical approaches into digestible presentations for management and leadership
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, Data Analytics, and external groups to understand needs
  • Apply good data governance practices, ensuring confidentiality and sensitivity, especially regarding Patient Health Information (PHI)
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Biostatistics, or related scientific field
  • Experience in technical leadership or management roles
  • Hands-on knowledge of mathematical principles, Statistics, Data Analytics, and Data Science, including model building and insights generation
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience as a Data Scientist, Statistician, or similar role
  • Expertise in machine learning, AI, and data science systems
  • Experience analyzing clinical or patient data (advantageous)
  • Proven ability to manage teams and provide coaching, with hiring/firing authority
  • Ability to develop metrics demonstrating the value of machine learning and AI
  • Attention to detail, professionalism, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills with stakeholders at all levels
  • Leadership in implementing enterprise systems and solutions
Additional Information:

Competitive salary, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range in Illinois is $118,000 to $167,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
