We are seeking a Manager, Data Science with proven leadership skills and a strong technical background in data science methodologies. This role involves leading a team of data scientists to execute key business objectives, mentoring team members, and developing new data analytics products. An ideal candidate may have experience with healthcare providers or health plans, but it is not required. The role requires managing a team while contributing to data science projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of data scientists, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Oversee project execution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timely delivery.
  • Guide the team in applying advanced statistical inference, modeling techniques, and performance indicators.
  • Lead development and deployment of data products that drive insights.
  • Guide data integration efforts across sources, using advanced cleaning, imputation, and validation techniques.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scopes and manage deliverables.
  • Ensure team focus on high-impact projects, proactively addressing roadblocks.
  • Champion data visualization best practices using tools like ggplot or Power BI.
  • Provide technical guidance on programming approaches and scalable solutions.
  • Contribute to industry thought leadership through collaboration with departments.

Technical Skills

  • Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages.
  • Proficiency with cloud computing tools (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle) and data manipulation tools.
  • Expertise in statistical techniques, machine learning, and data modeling.
  • Familiarity with data product development and deployment.
  • Ability to craft effective data visualizations.
  • Familiarity with agile development and modern data science tools.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of data science experience in a data-analytic role.
  • Experience managing 2 or more data scientists is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or a related field required.
