Position

Experienced hands on Manager, Cash Application to provide daily, weekly, and monthly accounting and reporting for all bank activities including all bank reconciliations and change/coin orders as well as customer payments using debit cards. The Manager of Cash Application will support balance sheet reconciliation, and process improvement in line with TerrAscend’s standard operating procedures while leading the cash application team.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor, record, and report on daily bank account activities including cash, debit card, and other deposits. Run reports from point-of-sale systems, debit card portals, and other payment portals. Reconcile all activities to bank accounts.
  • Coordinate with front-line staff at various dispensaries to place change/coin orders and monitor fulfillment.
  • Assist with various royalty accruals and tax calculations including gross receipts tax, use and sales tax, business privilege taxes.
  • Partner with the Accounts Receivable Manager and Senior Director, Accounting Operations in driving the month-end close process for multiple entities.
  • Prepares and/or reviews journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completion
  • Ensures accuracy of all assigned accounts, databases, and files.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with the accounting team, and other internal departments to design, document, implement, and monitor processes that establish controls, ownership, and accountability of involved parties related to inventory management.
  • Partner with accounts payable department, the purchasing department, and inventory management stakeholders concerning receiving issues, and the implementation of systems affecting inventory processing.
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis and projects as requested and respond to inquiries from external and internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with the regional accounting team, parent company accounting group, external auditors, and tax accountants during quarter and year end close to support reporting and regulatory requirements and provide financial commentary and supporting schedules as requested.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of the cash application department to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage, support, and coordinate the work of the cash application team by providing clear direction, coaching, training, and mentorship.
  • Identify individual development needs and training opportunities by leveraging annual and mid-year performance reviews to support career growth.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings and 1:1's to ensure alignment.
Qualifications and Education
  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in business or accounting.
  • 1 to 2 years of progressive accounting experience. Public accounting experience, as well as corporate accounting experience preferred.
  • 1 to 2 years of management experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing and/or Retail experience preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Experience or exposure to all areas of accounting including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash/revenue, fixed assets, accruals, reserves, inventory valuation, and intercompany eliminations. Understanding of the principles of inventory manufacturing processes, retail sales processes, sales and use tax, and public company audit compliance.
  • Experience working in a highly computerized environment and processing financial transactions using an ERP system and/or accounting software. Epicor experience preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficient within overall Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Self-starter that places an emphasis on accuracy, completeness, and work product ownership, with the ability to prioritize and complete tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Professional written and verbal communication with multiple levels and departments.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and honest.
