About This Position

The Manager, Application Engineering is responsible for managing a team of Application Engineers and QA resources, focusing on unlocking the potential of multiple project teams across Waystar’s organization. Our Managers are hands-on, highly technical, and committed to getting the job done.

What You'll Do
  1. Manage daily team activities.
  2. Conduct performance reviews and handle People Operations responsibilities.
  3. Schedule projects, allocate resources, and monitor timelines, being accountable for project success.
  4. Motivate, guide, and mentor team members to achieve goals.
  5. Coach high-level team members to benefit multiple technology teams.
  6. Collaborate with Business Product Owners to prioritize projects, including rapid application development and process efficiency.
  7. Work closely with other Managers and key stakeholders.
  8. Define and refine best practices, policies, and procedures related to application quality and testing.
  9. Review and refine organizational requests for architectural changes.
  10. Possess technical capabilities comparable to an application architect.
  11. Establish, drive, and improve team and department processes.
  12. Provide hands-on training and guidance across the organization.
  13. Set priorities for Architects and facilitate organizational change.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned.
What You'll Need
  1. 7+ years of experience with .NET and SQL Server.
  2. 3+ years as a Technical Lead or Lead Engineer.
  3. Experience with Unit Testing.
  4. Excellent communication skills.
  5. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  6. Self-motivated and capable of working independently or in teams.
  7. Experience building scalable software solutions.
  8. Subject Matter Expertise in at least 3 technical areas.
  9. Ability to lead a team of 3+ members.
  10. Experience planning multi-quarter projects.
  11. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  12. Prior managerial experience preferred.
  13. Experience with SaaS infrastructure is a plus.
