ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Manager, Application Engineering is responsible for managing a team of talented Application Engineers and QA resources focused on maximizing the potential of multiple project teams across Waystar’s organization. Our Managers are hands-on, highly technical, and proactive in ensuring project success.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  1. Manage daily activities of the team.
  2. Handle People Operations responsibilities, including performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
  3. Schedule projects and resources, monitor timelines, and be accountable for project outcomes.
  4. Motivate and guide team members through counseling, reviews, mentoring, and team-building activities.
  5. Coach high-level team members to act as force multipliers across multiple disciplines.
  6. Collaborate with Business Product Owners to prioritize projects, including rapid application development and process improvements.
  7. Work closely with other Managers within Technology and key stakeholders in related departments.
  8. Define and refine department best practices, policies, and procedures related to quality, standards, and testing.
  9. Assist technology teams in refining requests for architectural review and organizational change.
  10. Maintain technical capabilities comparable to an application architect.
  11. Establish and improve processes within the team and department.
  12. Provide hands-on training and guidance across the organization.
  13. Set priorities for Architects and facilitate organizational barriers to enable change agents.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • 7+ years of experience with .NET and SQL Server.
  • 3+ years as a Technical Lead or Lead Engineer.
  • Experience with Unit Testing.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Highly self-motivated.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Experience building scalable software solutions.
  • Subject Matter Expertise in at least 3 technical tracks.
  • Leadership experience managing 3+ team members.
  • Ability to plan and lead multi-quarter projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior managerial experience is preferred.
  • Experience developing solutions for SaaS infrastructure is a plus.
