Title: Senior Manager Field Application Engineering EMEA I&M

POSITION SUMMARY:
As the Senior Manager Field Application Engineering EMEA I&M, you will play a crucial role in driving the success of our products by leading a team of skilled engineers who provide technical support and solutions to our customers. You will work closely with sales, marketing, and R&D teams to ensure our products meet customer needs and industry standards. You are responsible for developing and leading FAE staff, as well as acting as an individual contributor. The position is part of the EMEA I&M Sales organization.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Team Lead for Field Application Engineers: Recruit, hire, train, develop, lead, motivate and deploy a team that is recognized as a positive differentiator against competition, and that meets AE’s ongoing need for high-level technical expertise and support in the field. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support. Ensure team’s accountability to timely and effectively address customer needs.
  2. Technical Training: Own the regional strategy for technical education and training. Enable EMEA I&M field staff and distribution partners to provide market leading expertise and problem-solving competence. Champion a culture of continuous improvement throughout the team and hold them accountable.
  3. Business Development: Partner with Account Management and Business Unit teams to develop and execute strategies for customer engagement and product promotion. Drive the Field Application Engineering team to deliver market penetration plans and drive accountability.
  4. Design Wins: Lead the Field Application Engineering team in working with key customer contacts and AE account managers, product managers and engineers to identify and understand new opportunities. Successfully promote, apply, operate, release and support AE products to meet and exceed corporate growth targets.
  5. Networking: Target, visit, and build influential relationships at priority customers, AE’s distribution partners and AE internal interfaces. Demonstrate constant focus on and investment in strong relationships and lead the Field Application Engineering team to accomplish the same.
  6. Voice of the market: Based on Field Application Engineering team’s exposure to the EMEA customer base and markets, gather and evaluate technical information from market segments of interest. Represent AE in industry events and technology conventions. Harmonize and integrate collected data, draw and report conclusions and make recommendations which help guide AE's product and market development efforts.

SKILLS:

  1. Strong technical background with expertise in electronic products and systems.
  2. Ability to present ideas in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner, both orally and in writing, and in English.
  3. Proven experience to lead, manage and mentor a staff of professional-level employees.
  4. Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges.
  5. Curiosity to learn about industry trends and innovative ways to apply technology.
  6. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  7. Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and set priorities.
  8. Willingness to travel as needed to support customer engagements and team activities.
  9. Excellent PC skills, including Excel, Word and MS Standard Office.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. 10 years in engineering roles in the industry.
  2. Experience in working with external clients or customers.
  3. 5 years in a Field Application type role in the Electronics Industry.
  4. Product troubleshooting to board level.
  5. Specific knowledge of Power Supply solutions, and experience with key customers, their equipment and applications.
  6. Management/leadership experience, especially of a technical support team.
  7. Experience with industry "standards" and "user" groups.
  8. Patent and/or published technical paper portfolio.
  9. Special experience as appropriate.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Home office based in EMEA or at one of AE’s sites in EMEA.

EDUCATION:
Essential:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.

Desirable:
Advanced degree, including M.S., Ph.D., or MBA, highly desirable.
