Job summary

Hawaii Medical Service Association on Oahu is seeking an AI and automation Manager to lead planning, development, and implementation of AI/automation strategies. This role manages multidisciplinary teams and partners with IT, product, operations, and compliance.

The position requires a CS/AI/DS degree, 5 years in AI/automation/ML/DS project leadership, 2+ years of supervision, cloud experience, knowledge of privacy and regulatory standards, and strong Python/R/AI framework skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/AI/DS/Engineering or equivalent.
• 5 years managing AI, automation, ML or DS projects.
• 2+ years supervisory/management experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms and data technologies.
• Deep understanding of AI methods including NLP, CV and predictive analytics.
• Familiarity with GDPR/CCPA and ethical AI guidelines.
• Strong data security and privacy knowledge.
• Office tools proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Proficiency in Python, R, Agents, Studio, Anthropic, Ansible, UIPath; TensorFlow/PyTorch.

**Hybrid Work Environment - Must reside on Oahu**

Pay Range: $86,500 - $179,500

Note: Individuals typically begin between the minimum to middle of the pay range

The AI and automation Manager leads and oversees the planning, development, and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) automation strategies and solutions within the organization. This role involves managing multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring that AI-driven and automation projects align with business objectives, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience. in related field.
• Five years of experience in managing AI, Automation, machine learning, or data science projects.
• Two years of supervisory or management experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms and data technologies.
• Deep understanding of AI methodologies, including supervised and unsupervised learning, NLP, computer vision, and predictive analytics.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and ethical principles in AI development.
• Strong understanding of data security, privacy, and ethical considerations in AI.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Agents, Studio, anthropic, ansible, UIpath) and AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the organization's AI and automation strategy in alignment with overall business goals.
  
  • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of AI projects, from ideation and prototyping to deployment and maintenance.
  • Lead and mentor a team of AI and automation specialists, data scientists, engineers, and analysts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, product, operations, and compliance to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  
  • Establish and enforce best practices for AI model development, testing, validation, and deployment.
  • Ensure that all AI and automation solutions adhere to ethical guidelines, data privacy laws, and regulatory standards.
• Manage budgets, timelines, and resource allocation for AI and automation initiatives.
• Communicate project progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the AI automation team.
