AARP is seeking a Manager of Accounting to lead month-end close, revenue recognition, billing, and reconciliations, ensuring GAAP compliance. The role oversees accounting staff, prepares financial statements, and supports audits while driving process improvements and robust reporting.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA, 5+ years of supervisory experience, and familiarity with ERP systems (PeopleSoft or Oracle).

The Controller's Office is responsible for AARP's enterprise-wide accounting activities. This includes maintaining internal controls; compliance with federal, state, and other legal reporting requirements; grants management; revenue recognition; general ledger activity; accounts payable/receivable; payroll; tax; and procurement functions to include managing strategic outsourcing, contract negotiation and supplier management.
Manager, Accounting ensures the organization’s accounting and financial data is accurate and in compliance with applicable accounting and regulatory standards. This role oversees month-end close, revenue recognition, billing, collections, cash receipts, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and audit support while ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable regulatory requirements. In partnership with internal stakeholders and business partners, the Manager provides financial expertise, ensures the integrity of financial data, and drives process improvements. This position plays a critical role in the preparation of audited financial statements, the management of significant revenue streams, and the continuous enhancement of accounting processes, controls, and reporting capabilities.
