The City of Murrieta is accepting applications for the position of Management Analyst to fill one (1) current vacancy in our IT Department. The eligibility list established may be used to fill upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to one (1) year.
The City of Murrieta is seeking a Management Analyst to serve as the business and financial partner to the Information Technology Division in the Administrative Services Department. IT keeps the City running with the networks and public safety systems that are relied on around the clock, the business applications, GIS mapping, and help desk support that every department uses. This position makes sure the business side of that work runs as smoothly as the technology. Reporting to the Information Technology Manager, you will coordinate and perform the division’s administrative and financial work, taking initiative to carry assignments through from start to finish. You will take a lead role in developing, administering, and monitoring the division’s budget, including working directly with other departments on IT budget items that affect them. You will coordinate requests for quotes and proposals, obtain quotes from vendors, and prepare and administer the resulting contracts and agreements, working with the City Legal Department as needed. You will track software, hardware, and telecommunications agreements and renewals, and handle purchasing and invoice processing, including working directly with vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies as invoices move through the approval workflow in the City’s Finance System. You will prepare and submit the division’s City Council agenda reports, along with related routing documents and correspondence, so clear, polished writing matters in this role. This position is well suited to a self‑motivated professional who works independently with minimal supervision and is comfortable reaching out directly to Finance, the City Clerk’s Office, the City Legal Department, vendors, and other departments to gather information and move work forward. You will be part of a 12-person IT team with professionals in GIS, Systems & Networking, User Support, and Enterprise Applications, and you will work closely with Finance and departments across the City. The ideal candidate is organized and detail‑oriented, keeps many contracts, deadlines, and purchases on track at once, communicates well with technical and non‑technical audiences, and brings a positive, team‑first attitude. This is an at‑will position.
The City offers alternatives to the standard 5/8 work schedule, such as a 9/80 or 4/10, subject to department approval and operational needs. After six months of employment, hybrid telework of up to two days per week may also be available, subject to approval.
