HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist with mammography expertise to perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures and assist radiologists. The role includes image verification, equipment setup, and potential supervision of students as assigned by the area supervisor.

The candidate should hold or be eligible for ARRT Radiography, SCRQSA registry licensure, and ARDMS Mammography certification with BR certification within 6 months.

Qualifications

• BLS-Healthcare Provider required.
• ARRT-R Radiography certification or registry eligible.
• RT Radiologic Technologist/Radiographer.
• SCRQSA registry licensure required.
• ARDMS Mammography certification required; BR certification within 6 months of employment.
• AMA approved Ultrasound school graduate; completed Mammography education and clinicals; Mammography Registry preferred.
• Previous Ultrasound Technologist experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates ultrasound equipment and produces diagnostic quality images as directed by radiologists.
• Assists physicians during invasive procedures.
• Performs clerical tasks, scheduling, ordering supplies, inventory and related duties as needed by the medical imaging management team.
• Supervision of students may be required at the discretion of the area supervisor.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic procedures with the use of ultrasound, with protocols outlined by the radiologist. Operates diagnostic equipment, processes images, and prepares room with necessary equipment and supplies for the procedure. The ultrasound technologist is responsible for selecting proper technical factors, producing diagnostic quality images, and competent in the operation of equipment. Assistance is also needed by the physicians during invasive procedures. Other duties include, but are not limited to, clerical, scheduling, transportation, ordering supplies, inventory, cleaning and anything deemed necessary by the medical imaging management team. Job may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the area supervisor. Employee must have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student. Direct supervision means the primary caregiver is readily available to the student throughout the shift.

Mammography technologist performs examinations, with protocols as outlined by the Radiologist. Operates diagnostic equipment, verifying images, and prepares room with the necessary equipment and supplies for the procedure. The mammography technologist is responsible for selecting proper technical factors, producing diagnostic quality radiographs, safe and competent operation of radiographic equipment, maintain compliance on all accredited and regulatory requirements. Other duties include, but are not limited to, clerical, scheduling, transportation, ordering supplies, inventory, cleaning, and anything deemed necessary by the Medical Imaging Management Team. Job may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the area supervisor. Employee must have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student. Direct supervision means the primary caregiver is readily available to the student throughout the shift.

What qualifications you will need:

• BLS-Healthcare Provider

• (ARRT-R) Radiography or Registry eligible

• (RT) Radiologic Technologist/Radiographer

• SCRQSA registry licensure required

• Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) required. BR certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

• Graduate of an AMA approved Ultrasound school. Completed Mammography education, clinicals and ready to sit for Mammography Registry; Mammography Registry preferred

• Previous Ultrasound Technologist preferred.
