Job summary

HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital is seeking a Lead MRI Technologist to perform MRI examinations using established radiologist protocols and to prepare the exam room with required equipment.

The Lead Tech will educate and train staff technologists, adjust protocols as directed, and oversee scheduling, transport, supplies, and safety measures for patients and staff around the MRI environment.

Qualifications

• BLS required.
• (ARRT-R) Radiography required.
• Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology preferred and ARRT.
• (ARRT-MR) Magnetic Resonance Imaging required within 6 months of hire.
• MRI Experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, transport, and prepare patients for MRI procedures.
• Adjust MRI protocols as directed by Radiologists and Medical Imaging Management.
• Supervise and train staff technologists and students as assigned by area supervisor.
• Ensure safety measures to protect patients and staff from magnetic fields.
• Maintain inventory, supplies, and equipment readiness for procedures.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Technologist performs MRI examinations with protocols as outlined by the Radiologist. Operates diagnostic MRI equipment, and prepares the room with the necessary equipment and supplies for the procedure.

Lead tech will be responsible for educating and training staff technologists on existing and new procedures. Lead tech will be responsible for adjusting protocols as directed by Medical Imaging Management team and Radiologists. Duties include, but are not limited to, Scheduling, transporting patients, ordering supplies, inventory, cleaning, and anything deemed necessary by the Medical Imaging Management Team. Lead Technologist is responsible for the Protection of patients and staff from the magnetic field, including but not limited to all safety measures. Job may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the area supervisor. Employee must have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student. Direct supervision means the primary caregiver is readily available to the student throughout the shift.
