Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a PRN Radiologic Technologist specializing in mammography. You will support breast imaging workflows, perform high-quality exams, and maintain EMR and PACS documentation.

The role requires MQSA/ACR knowledge and strong patient communication within a busy breast imaging unit. The position is PRN with a Day-Weekend shift, located at 12301 Lake Underhill Rd, Orlando, FL 32828.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Mammography and Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions (Required)
  • Ability to determine appropriate technical factors (Required)
  • Knowledge of Mammography equipment and MQSA and ACR regulations (Required)
  • Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety (Required)
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with people from diverse backgrounds (Required)
  • Ability to complete Mammography exams in a timely manner under stress (Required)
  • Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English (Required)
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Required)
  • Ability to follow department policies and procedures (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows.
  • Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the EMR and PACS systems.
  • Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed.
  • Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.
  • Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
