Job summary

AdventHealth Lone Tree is seeking a Radiologic Technologist specialized in mammography to join our breast imaging team. You will perform high-quality mammography exams, ensure patient safety and comfort, and maintain precise documentation in EMR and PACS.

The role requires MQSA and ACR guideline compliance, with collaboration across radiologists and technologists to deliver accurate results and timely communication to patients. Equal opportunity employer, benefits from day one.

Qualifications

  • High School Grad or Equivalent [Required]
  • Associate degree preferred
  • 1+ year of experience in imaging
  • Licenses and certifications required: BLS and RT(M)/ARRT; RT(R)/ARRT as applicable

Responsibilities

  • Participates in patient tracking and recalls, imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by workflows.
  • Supports breast center initiatives, accreditation prep, and quality improvement activities.
  • Follows department protocols for patient ID, consent, and time-out procedures prior to exams.
  • Maintains accurate EMR/PACS documentation and ensures timely image filing.
  • Performs high-quality mammography exams according to orders and protocols.
  • Prepares exam rooms, stocks supplies, and maintains equipment cleanliness and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low; completes daily QC checks.
  • Positions patients and operates mammography equipment with appropriate compression and technique.
  • Ensures patient safety, comfort, and clear communication; addresses questions professionally.
  • Complies with MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines; documents QC testing and equipment checks.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team for timely results and next steps.

Job Deatils:
  • Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows.
  • Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
  • Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed.
  • Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.
  • Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Mammography and Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions [Required]
  • Ability to determine appropriate technical factors [Required]
  • Knowledge of Mammography equipment and MQSA and ACR regulations [Required]
  • Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety [Required]
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds [Required]
  • Ability to complete Mammography exams in a timely manner even under stressful condition [Required]
  • Good organizational skills [Preferred]
  • Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment [Preferred]
  • Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
  • Ability to make judgments that must be made on a regular basis regarding exam protocols and imaging techniques, based upon patient condition and provisional diagnosis [Required]
  • Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures [Required]
  • Must maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures [Required]
  • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]
