Job summary

AdventHealth Oviedo Outpatient Imaging Center in Oviedo, Florida, seeks a Radiology Technologist specialized in mammography on a PRN schedule to support imaging coordination, recalls, and quality checks.

You will ensure safety, high-quality imaging, EMR/PACS documentation, and collaboration with radiologists for timely results. Requirements include MQSA/ACR knowledge, BLS, ARRT credentials, and 1+ year of experience.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Mammography and Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions (Required).
  • Ability to determine appropriate technical factors (Required).
  • Knowledge of Mammography equipment and MQSA and ACR regulations (Required).
  • Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety (Required).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of diverse backgrounds (Required).
  • Ability to complete Mammography exams in a timely manner under stress (Required).
  • Must read/write/speak conversational English (Required).
  • Basic computer skills and MS Office (Required).

Responsibilities

  • Participates in patient tracking and recalls; coordinates imaging and biopsy scheduling.
  • Supports breast center initiatives and accreditation prep.
  • Follows department protocols for patient ID, informed consent, and time-out procedures.
  • Maintains accurate EMR/PACS documentation.
  • Performs high-quality exams per orders and protocols.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and equipment is checked.
  • Performs daily QC checks in compliance with policies.
  • Operates mammography equipment; adjusts factors and compression as needed.
  • Ensures patient safety and comfort; communicates clearly.
  • Follows MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines; documents checks.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team; communicates results.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

Schedule: PRN

Location: Oviedo Outpatient Imaging Center

  • Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows.
  • Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
  • Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed.
  • Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.
  • Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to make judgments that must be made on a regular basis regarding exam protocols and imaging techniques, based upon patient condition and provisional diagnosis [Required]

  • Must maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures [Required]
  • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]
