Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Mammography Radiology Technologist to perform breast imaging under the direction of a Radiologist across several Henry Ford Mammography sites. The role requires ARRT/M registry, MQSA compliance, and ongoing medical education.

TheTechnologist will travel among designated facilities to deliver high-quality patient care. The position emphasizes image quality, radiation safety, patient communication, and strict adherence to department protocols, with responsibilities

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• ARRT registration and Mammography (M) advanced registry; registry must be obtained within 12 months.
• Must maintain MQSA criteria and other regulatory requirements.
• Must meet hours of continued medical education.

Responsibilities

• Explains examination procedure to patients and prepares patient for the examination.
• Reviews clinical data on requisition and obtains necessary patient history.
• Prepares procedure room and replenishes stock and supplies.
• Sets up equipment and performs radiologic procedures.
• Manually controls equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information.
• Adheres to ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure.

Job Description

This position will rotate between the following locations:

• Henry Ford Mammography- Kercheval
• Henry Ford Mammography- St. Clair Shores
• Henry Ford Mammography- New Baltimore
• Henry Ford Anthony L. Soave Mobile Mammography
• Henry Ford Mammography River District Hospital
• Henry Ford Mammography- Warren

Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs Radiologic breast imaging procedures for the evaluation of pathological entities as ordered by a physician. Performs related functions according to department protocols. Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Explains examination procedure to patients and prepares patient for the examination. Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examination.
• Obtains additional information about the patient medical history as necessary.
• Prepares procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies. Analyzes anatomical structure of patient, sets up equipment and performs the Radiologic procedure.
• Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied.
• Utilizes patient immobilization as needed.
• Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating the principles of radiation protection: may involve shielding of patients, selection of appropriate equipment settings to reduction dose, using other ALARA techniques, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required
• Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the advanced registry in Mammography, ARRT (M) (or registry eligible)
• If registry eligible, registry must be obtained within 12 months of date of hire
• Failure to obtain registry within the designated time-frame will result in termination of the Mammography Tech position
• Must maintain the required hours of continued medical education
• Must meet all Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) criteria, as well as other regulatory agencies
