Job summary

AdventHealth Lampasas location is seeking a Radiology Technologist specialized in mammography to perform high-quality breast imaging and imaging quality control. You will work with radiologists and the breast imaging team to ensure accurate results and patient safety in a full-time, day-shift role.

The position requires completion of an accredited radiology program, MQSA training, and Texas MRT credentials, with 1+ year in clinical radiology and mammography preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform various mammography procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.
  • Ability to perform Diagnostic Radiology examinations as deemed necessary.
  • Knowledge of communication styles and proper engagement with patients, staff and physicians.
  • SHARE Culture training and integration.

Responsibilities

  • Performs high-quality examinations per provider orders and protocols, ensuring optimal image quality.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
  • Performs daily system quality control checks per policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs mammography procedures with supervision as needed.
  • Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images.
  • Ensures patient safety and comfort, explains procedures clearly.
  • Follows MQSA, FDA, JCAHO, ACR, and DSHS guidelines and quality controls.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team for timely results.
  • Assists with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling.
  • Supports breast center initiatives and accreditation activities.
  • Follows protocols for patient identification, consent, and time-out procedures.
  • Maintains EMR and PACS documentation.

Shift: Full Time Days Monday - Friday
Either 5x8s or 4x10s
  • Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis. Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
  • Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs mammography procedures at a technical level without constant supervision.
  • Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed.
  • Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.
  • Follows all MQSA, FDA, JCAHO, ACR, and DSHS guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps.
  • Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows.
  • Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Ability to perform various mammography procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. [Required]
  • Ability to perform Diagnostic Radiology examinations as deemed necessary [Required]
  • Knowledge of communication styles and constant deployment of proper engagement behaviors when encountering patients, staff and physicians. [Required]
  • SHARE Culture training and integration. [Required]
Education
  • High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
Field Of Study
  • Successful completion of an accredited radiology program that meets the ARRT standards.
  • Successful completion of an approved MQSA training course with certification.
Work Experience
  • 1+ years diagnostic radiology technologist [Preferred]
  • 1+ years in the field of clinical radiology [Required]
  • 2+ years mammography department setting [Preferred]
Licenses And Certifications
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
  • Registered Mammographer RT(R)(M)(ARRT) [Required]
  • Medical Radiological Technologist (MRT) with Texas Medical Board (TMB)[Required]
