Job summary

AdventHealth in Apopka, FL is seeking a Radiologic Technologist specialized in Mammography to support the breast imaging team. You will perform 2D/3D mammography, ensure quality control, and maintain patient safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires ARRT registration, BLS certification, and at least 1 year of experience, with strong attention to detail and patient communication. This Per Diem/PRN position offers per diem schedule with day shifts at the Apopka facility.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of radiology imaging experience.
  • Must read, write and speak conversational English.
  • BLS certification required and ARRT registrations.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes.
  • Supports breast center initiatives and quality improvement activities.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, consent, and time-out procedures.
  • Maintains EMR and PACS documentation.
  • Performs high-quality mammography exams per orders and protocols.
  • Ensures exam rooms and equipment are clean, stocked and safe.
  • Performs daily QC checks and notifies when inventory is low.
  • Operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images.
  • Communicates clearly with patients and staff about procedures.

Job Description:

Schedule: Per Diem PRN

Location: 1480 W. Orange Blossom Trail Apopka FL 32712

  • Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows.
  • Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
  • Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed.
  • Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.
  • Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Mammography and Diagnostic Radiological Procedures/Positions [Required]
  • Ability to determine appropriate technical factors [Required]
  • Knowledge of Mammography equipment and MQSA and ACR regulations [Required]
  • Ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Radiation Safety [Required]
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds [Required]
  • Ability to complete Mammography exams in a timely manner even under stressful condition [Required]
  • Good organizational skills [Preferred]
  • Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment [Preferred]
  • Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
  • Ability to make judgments that must be made on a regular basis regarding exam protocols and imaging techniques, based upon patient condition and provisional diagnosis [Required]
  • Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures [Required]
  • Must maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures [Required]
  • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]
  • Performance of 2D and 3D mammography exams [Required]

Education:

  • High School Grad or Equivalent [Required]
  • Associate [Preferred]

Work Experience:

  • 1+ year of experience [Required]
