Job summary

Texas Health Mansfield is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform quality breast imaging, manage recalls, and coordinate with radiologists for timely results. The role includes patient positioning, image QC, and adherence to MQSA guidelines in a supportive team environment.

The position begins part-time (24 hours/week) and will transition to full-time (36 hours/week) in Fall 2026, with day shifts and occasional Saturdays.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Mammography procedures and positions.
  • Ability to determine appropriate technical factors.
  • Knowledge of MQSA/ACR regulations.
  • Ability to review prior images and identify areas of interest.
  • Ability to perform needle localizations and stereotactic biopsies.
  • Ability to train Mammography Technologists in special procedures.
  • Ability to work with radiologists and staff.
  • Read/write/speak clear English.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in patient tracking and recalls as required.
  • Maintains EMR/PACS documentation.
  • Performs high-quality mammography examinations per orders.
  • Keeps exam rooms clean and stocked; ensures equipment safety checks.
  • Supports accreditation and community screening initiatives.
  • Follows ID, consent, and time-out protocols.
  • Adheres to MQSA/ACR guidelines and QC testing.
  • Position patients and operate mammography equipment to obtain optimal images.
  • Collaborates with radiologists for timely communication of results.
  • Ensures patient comfort and safety; addresses questions with professionalism.
  • Notifies staff when inventory is low and documents QC checks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

Part Time, 24 hours week

7am-7pm

Thursdays & Fridays, occasional Saturdays

Position will move to Full Time, 36 hours/week in Fall 2026

  • Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows.

  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.

  • Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.

  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.

  • Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities.

  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.

  • Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements.

  • Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed.

  • Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps.

  • Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.

  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is lowPerforms and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Mammography procedures and positions [Required]

  • Ability to determine appropriate technical factors [Required]

  • Knowledge of Mammography equipment and the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and American College of Radiography (ACR) regulations [Required]

  • Ability to review prior images/films and distinguish area of interest [Required]

  • Ability to perform needle localizations, stereotactic core biopsies, and seed implants [Required]

  • Ability to train other Mammography Technologists in special procedures [Required]

  • Ability to work well with radiologists, nursing and surgical staff [Required]

  • Ability to assist with ACR accreditation of special procedures equipment and evaluations [Required]

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English [Required]

  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]

  • Good organization skills [Preferred]

Education:
  • High School Grad or Equivalent [Required]

  • Associate [Preferred]

Work Experience:
  • 1+ years' experience in Mammography [Required]

  • 1+ years' experience performing stereotactic core biopsies [Required]

  • 1+ years' experience performing breast needle localizations [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]

  • Registered Radiology Technologist RT(R)(ARRT) [Required]

  • Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) [Required]
